G3 3579 overheating & throttling problem
I really get tired of this problem. I repasted it, made a lot of things to reduce heat from CPU - nothing helps!
In stock paste:
CPU 100°C + throttling after 3 minuter running
GPU 85°, 1.7 gHz (stock)
After repasting:
CPU: similar 100°C, but it became hot slowlier, but throttling cames after 5 minute-load
GPU: temp decreased to 70°C
When I doing repasting work, I noticed, that my themal pipes have some damage, also one of vRAM modules didn't have any cooling (thermal interface is missing).
Damage of pipes is realy embarrasing - thermal pipe is covered by green raid, have strange sheer surface and weird blue color. Also CPU cooler blows cool air from PC.
As far, as I'm concerned, one or both thermal pipes depressurized and they can't propertly cool my system, as well.
If needed, I'll add photo of this strange part.
Is this temperatures is normal for my laptop? How long it will work on this temperatures? Should I replace heatsink with new one (My PC is under warranty). P.S.: This problems started approximately two month ago and caused many issues, like throttling, loud sound and overheating

I too have the dell g3. Mine is i5 8300h with 1060 max-q. And cpu gets 100°c + while gaming. Disabling the turboboost will help me reduce but cpu intensive games drops fps significantly. Is it all dell g3 that goes 100°c + normally or its a manufacturing defect?

Hi there
I came up with a solution for the high temperatures:
First see this print screen without the changes above:
Now what i did Using Intel Extreme Utility:
1º) Under volt CPU: Mine its = -145mv
ps: Temperature decreases 2 or 3 Celsius.
2º) Change the Turbo Boost Settings:
a. Turbo Boost Short Power Max change to 20,00W ( it came with 90,00w)
b. Turbo Boost Power Max change to 20,00W (it came with 65,00w)
ps: This make a decrease of maximum 5 fps, but lower the temperature up to 10 a 15 degree.
For more fps you can up the turbo boost to 30,00w or 40,00w, but it will increase the temperature. See the best set up for you.
For example my AC Odssy temperature was 90 degree without this change. With these changes the temperature decreased to 75 dergree ( Celsius)
3º) Chance Dell power manager set up:
a, Optimized
b. Lower temperature
c.ultra performance
ps this ones doesn't make so much difference, but some time i put on ultra perfomance because it increase the fans speed, making a little bitt difference on temperature.
Conclusion: Right now the best temperature solution its change turbo boost set up and under volt of cpu.
Odssy high configuration, with the undervolt, dell power manager set to Optimized and Turbo Boost change to 20,00w.
Second Solution:
Im doing a update from a second solution me and my friend found.
Using Thottle Stop program you can do UnderVolt and Under Clock of the Turbo Boost as the pictures below:
1º)Click on button FIVR
2º) Do an under volt and Underclock of the Turbo. In the turbo it was set from factore 41 ghz, after tests the best temperature for my dell g3 3590 was 33ghz, the temperature decreased from 90 ºC to 75 ºC.

Use the techpower up tool but the turbo ratio limits are too limited from this post. Leave core 1 and 2 at 41, and set core 3 and 4 at 37. This will enable it to reach up to 3.7ghz and stay below 90C. If you want more margin go down slightly below that. 33 is quite low but quite safe, but you should leave core 1 and 2 at 41 so when only two cores are in use it will run faster.

may i ask how long did you let AC Oddisey run before making screen shots of temperatures?
i think my gpu (1060 max q) is running way too hot... it goes up to 91C after playing withcher 3 for 30 min with cpu undervolted while the cpu stay under 90

Me too, it has an annoying sound and it throttles, I have an intel i5 8300h CPU and Nvidia 1050 gpu

I did everything as well but nothing change till I have to use Throlltestop! Turn off Turbo mode, undervolt CPU -140m, and now CPU stay 50oC in normal use and around 75oC when gaming. But it was very tired when you have to use Throttlestop every time like that! Once you forget to run this app, CPU temperature will be around 85oC in normal use.
Buying G3 3579 is a bad mistake!
