Even when new, this wasn't designed for high workloads -- and at about eight years old, that will not have improved over the years. Browsers (Chrome, Edge, etc.) tend to be memory intensive. That shouldn't overload the CPU unless you're running computations locally (including spreadsheet work).
Has the system had a thorough internal cleaning and have the thermal pads been replaced? If not, both are long overdue for a system this old and may also help.
Is the system running a hard drive or a native SSD?
Last year, I gave my laptop to a technician for a full service. He cleaned the fan and the internal board. At that time, my laptop was running slow, but after the service it started working perfectly. However, ever since that service, my laptop has gradually started lagging again. I was using simple hard drive but Now My system running on SSD 250GB
