Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 - 7391 Hinge Loose
Hi 7391 owners, looking for some experiences with your laptop. I just bought an Inspiron 7391 and I noticed that when I lift/rotate the screen, there's a little bit of looseness in the hinge before it gets stiffer resistance and sets in.
Is this normal? Or is this indicative that things will get worse?
Thanks!

I have this exact problem with my Dell Inspirion 13 7000 2 in 1. I bought this laptop in November '19 and used it basically for writing. Never ever dropped it, but now the left hinge is coming loose to the point were I am to afraid to open and close it or even use it in tablet mode. I now leave it open and use it as a desktop computer. What can I do? I did not expect to experience an issue such as this so early on.

That's a bit worrisome.
Did you use the tablet in different modes often?
I noticed on mine if I leave the laptop fully open/flat (180 degrees) and I pick it up by the keyboard, the screen will rotate a little downward about 20 degrees from it's flat position.
Not sure if you or others encounter similar or worse.

For reference, here's 2 videos. 1 of the loose hinge, and 2 is a demo unit at Best Buy. Both were laid flat 180 degrees. Lifting the laptop up shows the monitor flopping for the one with the loose hinge. The demo unit does not flop.

@Any one else with a similar problem
I just heard back from Dell Customer Service... they are saying this is "normal" and not covered under warranty.
I find this utterly ridiculous. A loose hinge that will result in a flopping screen (as seen in my video) should not be considered "normal" wear and tear within the first few weeks or months of purchase. It's not like the laptop was abused or damaged. Under normal use, the hinge should not become so loose.
The fact they won't stand behind their warranty should be a warning to anyone considering buying a product from Dell hoping that they'll support their product.

I found mine to be a bit flimsy out of the box. I then had a faulty webcam and so Dell came to swap out the integrated webcam and LCD screen and then afterwards the hinge wasn't a problem.

I had the same problem shortly after purchasing an i7 7306 2-1. I have never ever had this problem on another laptop over the 20 years. The (incredibly weak plastic/weak metal tab in the hinge broke and will likely fail prematurely in all these laptops. Disappointing, because in other respects this is a good laptop. If and when I get this fixed, I will be extremely careful not to fold over the laptop in use. Alternatively, I made use it as a desktop in the office for my employees (as another writer suggests) and get an Acer (which has a similar form factor but is much more robust.)
