Only one slot so 8GB is the most ram you can use.

Memory
Slot One SODIMM slot
Type DDR3L
Speed Up to 1600 MHz
Configurations supported 2 GB, 4 GB, and 8 GB

That link you provided is for the processor's memory support depending on the specs of computer it is installed in.

And Crucial listing for that model says 8gb is the max--

Mary G is spot on. It does not matter if the CPU supports it, Dell specs are for a single SODIMM slot and a maximum of 8 GB total. You can try 16 GB but in all likelihood it will not boot.

This from the 3543 support page.

Memory

Slot           One SODIMM slot.

Type         DDR3L

Speed      Up to 1600 MHz

Configurations supported      2 GB, 4 GB, and 8 GB

@JOcean  @robmro27

This is another one I have bookmarked for tomorrow.

If I find a 15-3543 in the warehouse I will test and post the results in the morning.

Best regards,

U2

NOTE:

I have limited experience with single slot systems!!!

So I guess its time to find some models with single slots and start testing.

Spent a few hours yesterday and today looking for a 15-3543.

And an 11-3168 for another project!!!

I have found at least 10 of the 15-3542's not one 15-3543!!!

The warehouse manager has around 1000 left to sort.

He should be finished by the end of the week.

If I find one I will post any results.

Best regards,

U2

You probably already figured it out, but I do not really see a definitive answer posted.

So, here is my very short answer.

Hi,

I have the same bruning desire, to get my RAM up to 16GB.  I have an Inspiron 15 3543 i7-5500U with 8GB installed. @Konrad67 - is the result you posted of an installed Crucial 16GB DDR3L-1600 SODIMM memory module?

Regards

Yes. It is exactly that chip. I was merely brave enough to take the chance, because I have so many things open at the same time, all the time... And I don't like working "on the edge" when it comes to memory. I think if the CPU supports 16GB, there shouldn't be a problem...

I cant sleep coz too much paperwork to do tonight so i add one more for fellow 3543 loyalist

Great news! Can you tell me which memory exactly you put in there? I would like to try too! Thanks!
