Inspiron 7568 - maximum memory?

I've just recently bought an Inspiron 7568, which will come with 8gb in its one SODIMM slot - is it possible to upgrade this laptop by replacing the single 8gb DIMM with a larger one, maybe a 16gb or 32gb?

Max is 16gb

Yes, at least in the 2-in-1 model.  In the Inspiron 7568 2-in-1 laptop, you can upgrade to one stick of 16 GB DDR3L 1600 MHz ram in the one existing SODIMM slot.  I just did it.  It is very happy now.  I got mine from Crucial.

Hello could you share the Crucial model/part number information?  I can't seem to find a single 16GB stick that shows as compatible, and some places indicate that only 8GB is maximum.

Thanks,

Are you sure about this? I look at the specifications document that Dell provides in their website and it said that it supported only 4gb and 8gb configurations.

The document can be found here:

Can you please tell me where you got the 16Gb memory, as Crucial don't have it?

Thx, Nick

Yes it is possible to upgrade to a single 16GB module of memory.

If you go to Crucials website it will tell you what is the max memory capable.

http://www.crucial.com/

The main screen gives you 2 options: Down load a system scanner or choose a computer system.

The 7568 manual states a 4 or 8 module is compatible.

Inspiron 15 7568 Specifications (dell.com)

Crucial does not have the DDR3 modules any more.

I found mine on Amazon and NewEgg also has them.

The module ID is:

Crucial 16GB Single DDR3L 1600 MT/s (PC3L-12800) 204-Pin SODIMM Memory - CT204864BF160B

There are obviously other web sites that sell memory as well.

Good Hunting

This is kind of an old thread but im attempting to do this exact upgrade, same computer.  Was there anything extra you had to do to get it to boot?  I just upgraded to a solid state drive with fresh install of windows but i cannot get it to boot with the crucial 16gb ram installed.

Based on your comment above and Crucial's website saying it would work, I bought 16gb of DDR3L and installed it in place of my 8gb stick.  It won't boot and I get the 2 amber, 5 white lights, which indicates invalid memory.  Putting the 8gb stick back in, works.  I've removed the battery and the CMOS to make it start over, but to no avail.  I see no options in BIOS to help.  Did you have to do anything special to get yours to work?

@Gigi39 Did the upgrade to 16GB work in the 2-in-1 7568?

@nucleasrneal HI! I'm going through the upgrade myself. I purchased the Crucial RAM 16gb card. Installed it and it did not work. I reinstalled the original OEM RAM and it worked. Can you describe what you did. I have a Dell Inspiron 15-7568 2 in 1 laptop. Thank you
