The system is a few years old - has it had a thorough internal cleaning and replacement of the thermal pads?  If not, that's a good idea.

A balanced power plan is a better idea than a high performance one - this is a budget gaming system, not a high performance one.

@ejn63

Hello

Thanks for your response, i did not replace the thermal pads, the thing is the laptop is not over heating, in contrast its staying in low temp 50-60 C, and the problem is in the GPU utilization its not being utilized in games, just 7-9% max of its capability so i dont think its a thermal issue

And these games should normally work on this PC its a good gaming pc for League of legends and dota 2 which aren't so demanding, so after consultation i saw that they should easily work on 120 fps and not drop the issue is in the cpu and gpu usage which is not normal

Are you playing on the Notebooks internal screen or on an external one?

Did you change all the listed settings as you were facing these problems?
Was it the same issue when you got the system out of box from Dell?

Does it happen in both battery mode and ac-mode?

Is the AC-Adapter properly recognized in the systems BIOS with the correct wattage?

Try reverting the BIOS and Windows OS to out of box state with Dell OS Recovery (when available). Update drivers and check the condition (without changing anything else).

Hello,

  • Yes i'm using the notebook internal screen
  • All settings are perfectly set, nvidia, dell power manager and bios settings
  • To be accurate the issue wasn't when i initially got the system out of the box, but i don't know exactly when it started
  • It happens in both battery and AC-Mode, i tested both in the dell pre-boot testing, they are working normally, but the battery life depreciated
  • I tried updating and resetting the BIOS before

My issue is that these games (League of Legends, Dota 2) should be easily run on my pc, and the thing is when i'm playing and monitoring the performance the fps is heavily dropping, and on the other side the CPU and GPU utilization is not even medium and temperatures are 50-60C normal, the BIG question is why aren't they fully utilized ? Why is the CPU maximum 20% utilization, and GPU maximum 10% utilization ??

Sorry for the late reply.

1. Again, make sure that the AC-Adapter is recognized with the correct wattage output. This should be visible in the BIOS. Are you using the AC-Adapter, or a 3rd party product? Was the original Dell power adapter specified as 240W or 180W?

2. I'd suggest to backup your data, perform a clean installation of your Windows operating system using a USB drive with Microsofts Media creation tool. Install latest drivers using Dell Update software and test again. Avoid any unnecessary software at this point and only install the Games you struggle with and check if they are running better now.

3. I remember that some Alienware Notebooks had limited performance when the Battery was low, as the system under load used AC power whilst draining the battery. If your battery life is depreciated it could negatively impact your computers performance.
