MicroSD Card Reader
Hello All -
I am thinking about getting a MicroSD card to use for file storage in my New Dell Inspiron 7400.
I looked at the Setup and Specifications for my laptop, and found this NOTE, and I am wondering if someone can translate this for me into......what is this really telling me???
"NOTE: The maximum capacity supported by the media-card reader varies depending on the standard of the media card installed in your computer."
The SanDisk Ultra MicroSD card comes in a variety of sizes:
32 GB, 64 GB, 128 GB, 200 GB, 256 GB, 400 GB, 512 GB, and 1000 GB (1 TB).
So what is the maximum capacity supported by my media-card reader? I don´t understand what it means that it depends on the "standard" of the media car installed. What does "standard" mean? Does it mean that if I buy a 1 TB MicroSD card, that 1 TB will be my maximum capacity?
If anyone has some light they could shed on this, that would be much appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance.

Info for your model here-- Inspiron 7400 Setup and Specifications (dell.com)
The amount of storage depends of the model of SD cards you buy. It's just like hard drives -- the size of the card determines capacity.

Thank you Mary.
Quick question for all.... I now know that my microSD card reader in my Dell Inspiron 7400 is a Gen 2.0
Can that info be found anywhere, meaning in any manual?
For further example, I'm interested in buying a Dell XPS 9310. What generation microSD card reader is in that one? 2.0? 3.0? 3.1? Other?
Thanks!
