New battery doesn't work

I just bought from Dell a new, lager capacity battery. After watching the videos at the Dell site in how to install it, I proceed as suggested. All seemed to be fine until restarting the laptoop, the battery indicator showed 24%, plugged but not charging. I then went on looking for possible causes and solutions, one of them said to let the battery run out and then proceed to recharge it, which I did let that happen overnight. Now I have a 0% battery charge and a laptop that works as a PC, because it needs to be plugged in 100% of the time. After running Dell diagnostics, these 2 errors came up:

- Percent Charge - D0301

- Percent Health - D0302

Pretty obvious at this point. Drivers seem to be up to date and no other software issues have come up in any of the diagnostics processes done so far.

Any idea if what to do now? Or do I need to send back the battery and ask for a refund?

You've left out many of the most important considerations:

First, what model system is this?

Is the battery OEM or third party?

Does the system correctly recognize the AC adapter or does it show unknown in setup (F2 at powerup), in which case the battery will not charge.

To receive support from Dell, click on Get Help Now button, on lower right of this screen.

To receive help from Community users, provide information on which laptop model you have.  Have you reinstall the old battery to test the laptop charging condition?

If the AC adapter is recognized by setup and the battery does not charge, contact Dell to have it replaced -- any battery purchased new from Dell has a year warranty.

F2 at powerup - it will show up on the main or a sub-setup screen.
