WavesMaxxAudio is using CRAZY CPU percentage contantly

I think this is a new problem. Maybe from an update of something?

I have a Dell Inspiron 5502. Running 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz 1.69 GHz

I just noticed a few hours ago that WavesSysSvc Service application and WavesMaxxAudio Service Application are constantly running high CPU. Upward to 25% EACH, and non stop.

I first noticed it because I have a constant temperature reading in the system tray (CrystalDiskInfo). I noticed it was running warmer than it should, so I checked the task manager.

These programs are part of Realtek Audio driver. I guess they are specific to Dell products.

I checked to see if driver was up to date, and Device Manager said it was, but I uninstalled it anyway, and downloaded a new one (from Dell .com/Support.)

Sure enough, when I restarted the computer, it started with the high, constant CPU usage. It was not always like this.

And now, I just noticed, that WavesMaxxAudio is NOT even working properly, because if I plug my external speakers into the headphone jack, they are NOT recognized. What is going on?

I read online in another thread from a few years ago, that maybe a new Windows update might have caused it.

Frustrating.

This issue has been around since before 2017.

My Dell Inspiron 7700 AIO (Win 10-64 bit, 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz ) with 27-inch LCD was fine since Oct 2022 when I disabled MaxProAudio.

After recent Updates beginning 05/25/23, Have had the CPU and fan raging at 30-40%.  Lots of heat and noise.  Youtube videos are disrupted.

Rolling back and updating the Waves Audio Effects Components (in Device Mgr-Software Components) and the Realtek Audio Properties (in Device Mgr-Sound, video and game controllers) has NOT solved the problem.

Why have Dell/Realtek/Waves has done nothing to solve this longstanding rather severe issue?  Never again a Dell...

Updated early morning today -- June 1, 2023..  Unchecked all Signal Enhancement boxes on the relevant device drivers.  Now, the Waves Max Pro Audio problem appears to have been somewhat ameliorated.

However, CPU utilization still high 20-40% for Windows Audio Device Graph Isolation.  This was always the other half of the problem, although others do not seem to have mentioned it much.  Still hogging 20-40%, averaging 25% of CPU.

Hopefully another update will solve this problem.

I pity anyone who acquired a Dell computer for music production.  What a disaster!  Dells are also notorious for their latency:

I've disabled the app in Startup Apps in Task Manager, and disabled it's Service (via Services - Waves Audio Services, Properties, Startup-type = disabled). Now all is quiet again, the CPU is at ease, and the fan noise isn't driving me mad.

Fixed? Dell released a critical update to "Realtek Audio Driver" on June 27th 2023. I just installed it via the "Dell Command" utility (along with several other critical & recommended updates) and it seems to be fixed.

Everything is up2date with the Command Update, but the problem ist still here.

That's really sad...

The RealTek Driver have Problems wir the USB Audio Device.

I have to unplug and replug the USB-C TB4 to fix it. That's so buggi...

@csrote Metion it.... We are also looking for alternatives in the company.

The problem is very old Dell will have real problems in the future to stay competitive against Apple. Really a pity... but it will end up like Nokia.

The devices have to run. The heat development and the fan noise are no longer up to date for simple office applications.

updates from Dell support page on 2024-3-8 fixed the problem for me
