Just something you will want to be aware of, upgrades from 6.5 to 7.2 are not supported. You would want to first upgrade from 6.5 to either 7.0 or 7.1 and then wait for the upgrade job to complete before performing the upgrade to 7.2.
I don't think there is any utility within Isilon to perform the same. You need to keep a track of local user password and after upgrade login using root account from webui and reset passwords accordingly.

Unfortunately to the best of my knowledge there is no way to backup and restore the local user passwords.

Hello,
