CLI Equivalent for the option - "Apply Windows default ACLs' in GUI
Hello Experts,
I am creating a share using the below command:
isi smb shares create --name=Data_Test3 --path=/ifs/appfs32/CIFS_Data_Test3 --create-path --zone=APPFS32 --browsable=true --description="Test_Share" --continuously-available=true --ntfs-acl-support=true --create-permissions="default acl"
Which creates a share whose permissions look like this:
However, when I use the "Apply Windows default ACLs" in the GUI:

the permissions come as expected:

I am looking for the CLI command to apply the default Windows ACLs. Can someone please advise?

Hi,
Thanks for your question.
Which version of OneFS are you on? It looks like you are doing it correctly. Deployment KB: Managing Isilon SMB share permissions. | Dell US

@DELL-Josh Cr,
Thank you for your response. We are using 9.7.1.2 version.
My concern is that when we configure it from the GUI we do not get the permissions for root, wheel, however, when using the CLI command, we see those two entries.
Is there an option to not have them?
Thanks.

Root and Wheel are Unix permissions and not Windows permissions, it sounds like when using the option in the GUI it is only giving Windows and not Unix permissions. Do you need Unix permissions?

@DELL-Josh Cr ,
We are trying to automate the creation of SMB shares and expect the command to create a share with the exact same permissions as those we see when creating it using the GUI. However, we are not able to achieve this.

Can you modify the permissions after creation to add the permissions you want? Page 142 https://dl.dell.com/content/manual79687472-powerscale-onefs-9-3-0-0-cli-command-reference.pdf?language=en-us

@vaibhavlal2025 , ask your account team to have this feature in CLI, it's only in WebUI/GUI at this time.
