It looks like version 7.2.1.1 creates three NICs when you convert it, the previous versions only created 2 NICs. If you delete the third NIC in ESX before powering it on it will skip over the NIC options question and will allow you to setup the Isilon cluster. After you do this though I always get the "IFS failed to mount" error and can't continue further. It looks like this version of the simulator is broken, I don't get these errors with 7.2.1.0 or 7.2.0.2 simulators.

How did you convert the Workstation vm to vSphere? Use vm version 10, not vm version 11 if using Converter.

From the output, it looks like you're looking at the wrong error (which most likely is not an error, but an informational notification). It's asking you to choose your NIC layout, not asking about the storage at all. That said, I'm not sure what it should be for the simulator.

As an aside, I just downloaded the latest "public" simulator which I think is version 7.2.0.1 and that did not exhibit this behavior. Also, the 7.2.0.1 one actually gives me the option to configure the ext-1 interface whereas the newer one did not.

I'm having the same problem on Workstation 11 (and on ESXi 5.5 via a conversion.) I choose the 3 and 4 nic options to get farther (the others generate an error much earlier in the script.) Eventually I get past the OpenSSH message (it never asks me to overwrite) and it just says this:

That is my experience also. v7.2.1.1 sim broke for me on the NIC part and IFS failed to mount.
v7.2.1.0 sim works wonderfully.
I've reported this to Engineering and they have the ball now.

I really wish EMC/Isilon would spend more time on QC/QA and testing. This sort of thing is just embarrassing.

Hello Everyone,
A new build of the 7.2.1.1 simulator has been posted. Please let us know if there are any further issues. Thank you for your patience in this matter.
