Disk Life
Hi Everyone here ,
For Isilon F800 and H400 node disk , we would like to know how do we get to know when is disk is going to be degraded.
To be more precise , I need the data that how many read and write a disk in the node can process before it fails.
Any inputs on this will be highly appreciated.

Hi,
Thanks for your question. Which model drive is it? Is it an SSD or an HDD? There is not a fixed amount of time before they fail. SSDs tend to use Terabytes written(TBW) but that is just an expected lifetime and it could be less or more than that. HDD tend to use MTBF which is the number of power on hours, but potentially also have a TBW as well. The best option to minimize issues from drive failures is to keep the nodes in warranty and upgrade nodes when that isn’t possible.
Let us know if you have any additional questions.
