Installing InsightIQ on CentOS 7

Good evening,

Has anyone been successful installing InSightIQ on CentOS 7?

Yes, we have gotten it to install on Oracle EL7 which should be virtually identical.  Are you running into a specific problem or just asking in general?

Thanks Eric,

But this is what I get when I try:

$ sudo sh install-insightiq-4.1.1.3.sh Verifying archive integrity... All good. Uncompressing EMC Isilon InsightIQ - 4.1.1.3 - Self Extracting Installer............................................................. This script automates the installation or upgrade of InsightIQ. If you are running a version of InsightIQ that can be upgraded by this version, the upgrade will occur automatically. If you are trying to upgrade an unsupported version, the script will exit. If you are installing on a new system, the script will perform a clean install. ERROR: Unsupported operating system detected. Install InsightIQ on CentOS 6.x or Red Hat 6.x.

Thanks

Current version we have is:

CentOS Linux release 7.4.1708 (Core)

Derived from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.4 (Source)

NAME="CentOS Linux"

VERSION="7 (Core)"

hi jcsierrahbo,

The officially supported CentOS version for InsightIQ version 4.1.1 is CentOS 6.8.

CentOS v7 is not a supported OS for InsightIQ version 4.1.1.

That said, to help out several customers with the same question, I've hacked around a bit and attempted a manual installation on CentOS v7.2 -- it didn't go well.  The problem resides in conflicting libs.  Further research and manually installing missing RPMs reinforces the conflicting lib issues.  Save yourself some time.

Hope this helps.

It is now April 2018, with the most recent version of IIQ being released 2/15/2018 and we still are limited to CentOS6.x and RHEL6.x.  RHEL7 was released almost 4 years ago, but still no support.  I guess EMC is just being consistent in the constantly declining level of support that customers receive.

I just gave up, installed ESXi and the OVA and called it a day.

Just tried to install on Scientific Linux 7.5 (another RHEL clone) and got:

[administrator@insightiq4 ~]$ sudo sh install-insightiq-4.1.2.7.sh

ERROR: Unsupported operating system detected. Install InsightIQ on CentOS 6.x

or Red Hat 6.x.

We are moving everything off SL 6.x and moving to SL7.x as RHEL 6 is EOL 11/30/2020

hopefully InsightIQ will get updated before then ...
