Isilon NL410 Reimage issue

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help.  I have 5 Isilon NL410 nodes which I am attempting to reimage and join to an existing cluster running at v9.1.x.  I can successfully reimage the nodes with the v9.4 and v9.5 reimage bundles but anything lower and they fail.  I get the following error upon boot:

Verifying hardware configuration...

<isi_rc> Executing script nfsd
Unable to get frontend NIC list. PSI key does not exist: network.interfaces.frontend
Unable to get frontend NIC list. PSI key does not exist: network.interfaces.frontend
Unable to get frontend NIC list. PSI key does not exist: network.interfaces.frontend
Unable to get frontend NIC list. PSI key does not exist: network.interfaces.frontend
Unable to get frontend NIC list. PSI key does not exist: network.interfaces.frontend

Critical Error: Unsupported OneFS release and invalid hardware configuration!
Node is an unknown hardware version.!
Contact Dell EMC Customer Support immediately.
            ok

Thanks

Hello Paul,

For the NL410 the oldest version of OneFS that can be installed that we offer is version 9.4. I am not seeing anyway to install OneFS 9.1.x.

@DELL-Sam L thanks Sam.

9.1 is pre 9.4, I thought?

The cluster we are trying to join these nodes to runs at v9.1 of code.  We cannot download the 9.1 USB reimage, the link appears broken.  We have tried to download and install v9.0 but this gives the error already mentioned.  If we download either v9.2, v9.4 or v9.5 version of code (USB reimage) the nodes build fine but we cannot join to the cluster - when they attempt to join they want to download v9.1 and fail with the error message mentioned in this thread.  The ironic thing is these additional nodes won't be used for any front end connectivity!

Do you have any other ideas as to why these fail to run?

Hello Paul,

Since your cluster is running 9.1, when you add a new node it is going to want that node to be 9.1. the error that you are getting when using a higher version like 9.2 or 9.4, is due to the cluster mismatch of versions. Since version 9.1 is no longer customer available for download, you would have to either get a valid 9.1 reimage or upgrade your cluster to 9.4.

@DELL-Sam L Hi, do you know where I can get a valid 9.1 reimage?

Hello Paul,

I am not able to find any reimage that is publicly available for 9.1.

Please create an SR to get valid image of OneFS 9.1.

If you add a node it should auto download the version need for the cluster, so if you just isi_reformat_node on NL410 and then just add/join via wizard, it should download the cluster OneFS 9.1 to the node.

@Phil.Lam Thanks for the update, will I be able to log a SR given this product is now EOL.  I will try anyway.  Also, this node has been re-imaged with v9.0 (woudn't re-image correctly) & v9.4 (did re-image correctly) and we have attempted to join but falls over with the original error.

Thanks

Paul

that's odd, because OneFS 9.0/9.1 is supported on NL410

also, was something taken out or replaced on the NL410 that would give this error?

Unable to get frontend NIC list. PSI key does not exist:
