Isilon - Process for removing NIS as a Authentication Provider

Community,

The group I work for is trying to develop a strategy for removing all clusters dependencies on NIS and making AD the clusters primary source of user authentication.  Is there any steps, processes, documentation, suggestions, best practices, advice, etc... That anyone has for how we would go about performing such a task and all user still retain their access to their files?  Let me know if what details are needed to help paint a better picture for our clusters settings.

Make sure your AD provides UNIX UIDs and GIDs,

and migrate those from your NIS service.

Might require some custom scripting though...

Even if you don't plan to add SMB services on the Isilon

you are touching the "multiprotocol"  field when using AD with NFS,

and starting point for a good overview with links to relevant whitepapers is:
