Isilon - Rename a file with special (Unrecognizable) characters, unicode
Community,
I have a problem were we are trying to archive an entire directory worth of data and the archive keeps failing on one file that appears to have special characters that cant be deciphered with the current settings on the cluster. Please give me an idea for how I can:
1. rename the file
2. and delete the original file
i.e
# ls -l | grep cru
-rwxrw-r-- + 1 CHARLES\rahuls CHARLES\regev_la 28230 Mar 7 2016 crude.pl
-rw-rw-r-- 1 CHARLES\rahuls CHARLES\regev_la 13147 Sep 17 2012 crude.pl▒▒
when I do a tab complete this is what I get:
.
# cp cru
crude.pl\M-}\M-^@\M-^@\M-^@\M-^D\M-^A\M-}\M-^@\M-^@\M-^@\M-^D\M-^A
crude.pl*
# cp crude.pl▒^▒^▒▒^▒^▒ /ifs/data
cp: crude.pl▒▒: No such file or directory
I can not delete, copy or move the file using those characters though.
Thank you,

I don't know if this is the DELL/EMC best practice fix but this seems to work.
NOTE... I am logged directly into the Isilon CLI, not logged into another system with the Isilon filesystems mounted to it.
NOTE... I am also logged in as root.
I was finally able to make a copy of the file to another directory using:
cp "[TAB TO COMPLETE]" [DIRECTORY LOCATION] NOTE*** I used double quotes before and after the file in question.
Granted, when I copied the file to the new location all the attributes changed to root and the permissions as well.
I was then able to figure out how to rename and delete the original file using the same format as above. Renaming the file did not alter the MD5, so I will just fix the permissions and ownership and move the file back to the directory where I will then too remove the original file as well.
