Mutiple Zones on ISILON and PHD Versions

Is it possible/supported to run the following ?

We are on OneFS 7.1

1. One  ISILON cluster we have two zones.

one zone is  used/pointed by UAT Pivotal Hadoop(PHD) cluster

one zone is used/pointed by PRODUCTION Pivotal Hadoop(PHD) cluster

Both PHD clusters are PHD1.1.1 version

Would it be feasible to point two different versions of  PHD to the same ISILON cluster (OneFS 7.1)?

one zone is  used/pointed by UAT Pivotal Hadoop(PHD) cluster -  PHD2.1 (Upgraded from PHD1.1.1 to PHD2.1)

one zone is used/pointed by PRODUCTION Pivotal Hadoop(PHD) cluster - PHD1.1.1

Is the above configuration supported?

Please advice.

Thanks for your help and time.

Abeesam,

It should work with OneFS 7.1.1.x and above, because in 7.1.1.x and above HDFS became access zone aware, so that each access zone has its own HDFS root path.  Here is the output from a 7.2 cluster.

isi01-1# isi zone zone view zone2

                     Name: zone2

                     Path: /ifs/zone2/

               Cache Size: 9.54M

            Map Untrusted:

           Auth Providers: -

             NetBIOS Name:

       All Auth Providers: No

       User Mapping Rules: -

     Home Directory Umask: 0077

       Skeleton Directory: /usr/share/skel

Audit Success: create, delete, rename, set_security, close

Audit Failure: create, delete, rename, set_security, close

      HDFS Authentication: all

      HDFS Root Directory: /ifs/zone2/

          WebHDFS Enabled: Yes

       HDFS Ambari Server:

     HDFS Ambari Namenode:

Syslog Forwarding Enabled: No

Syslog Audit Events: create, delete, rename, set_security

                  Zone ID: 8

Hope this helps,
