PowerScale/Isilon and CloudIQ

If PowerScale/Isilon is connected directly to Dell via SupportAssist (i.e. not using the soon-to-be-removed SRS or the Secure Connect Gateway) will it appear automatically in CloudIQ?

I tried to onboard a customer in CloudIQ a few days ago and we weren't able to see his PowerEdge server (which is already connected to SupportAssist via the iDRAC). We were having trouble getting the PowerScale connected to SupportAssist (firewall issues, I think) so I didn't expect it to be there, but CloudIQ did have a message appearing to list the devices that could be in CloudIQ, and neither PowerEdge nor PowerScale was in the list. I wish I'd taken a screenshot, as I may not have understood the message correctly. It did seem to be saying that CloudIQ was limited to only a few systems (SC series, PowerVault, PowerSwitch and one other I can't remember), which surprised me a great deal. The current documentation lists bunches of Dell products, including PowerEdge and PowerScale, so I'm a little confused by what I saw. Is CloudIQ going away/being replaced?

Thanks.

Hello DB_2022,

Have you installed the OpenManage Enterprise plugin on your server?  If you haven’t you will need to do that so that your server can be seen, and Cloud IQ can talk to it.  Here is a link to the plugin.

We just onboarded our 9.5.0.3 Clusters via SupportAssist direct, without gateway) to CloudIQ. It took a little while for them to show up, but they eventually did and are now showing the usual CloudIQ health/usage/performance/availability data. Maybe you have to be patient or something did not finish the way it should during SupportAssist provisioning. In case open an SR as they should show up after some time.

And personally I don't think CloudIQ is going away, rather the contrary is happening. There are enhancement news rolling in on an almost werkly basis. Plus, all the other "big ones" have a similar product in their lineup and Cloud based Systems monitoring seems to be the winning hand these days

Sam, my client does not have/need OM Enterprise. That's a bit too much for their environment. So I guess the PowerEdge won't be in CloudIQ. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. Good to know that CloudIQ does still support PowerScale. I will let my client know that once they get the firewall issues resolved regarding connecting the PowerScale to SupportAssist, it should appear in CloudIQ after a bit.

According to the following document Sam-L's statement is not 100% correct. Basic CloudIQ (via SupportAssist) HW monitoring should be included via iDRAC basic license. Even Metrics are available from iDRAC enterprise upwards without OME. See page 7:

And just in case: OME is not that expensive and has its own merits, even for small shops (fw/driver lifecycle management and compliance checking, power usage, etc...). Maybe let them demo and have them decide for themselfes
