SNMP Trap Event Messages

I have been asked this question a few times so I am posting this information here for all to reference.

To change the default behavior of OneFS for sending events through SNMP (OneFS sends SNMP with "Inform" message type) there is a CELOG setting that must be made to change the SNMP message type to use the "Trap" message type.

To implement this change on the cluster, the following command must be executed as root user on just one online node of the cluster:

# isi_gconfig celog.celog_settings.use_snmp_trap=true

This setting is made to the OneFS internal gconfig system and therefore will be persistent across node/cluster reboots and OneFS upgrades (except in the case where the cluster is re-imaged).

Brad...  Thanks for the info.

This is particularly useful if a client is using an SNMP Proxy like TAVVE with NetCool.  If the cluster sends informs instead of traps then TAVVE tags itself as the originator of all messages instead of the cluster.
