Office 365 scrambles text entry: GPU compatibility?

When I'm typing in Word or Outlook, the text does not update properly. Instead it gets scrambled, moves around, disappears and reappears, and so forth. Scrolling up and down usually restores it. The text is in the file or email -- it simply isn't being displayed properly. I have a year-old XPS8950 with an nVidia 1660 Ti graphics card.

I'm not the only one with this problem. There are many complaints in Internet forums from people experiencing the same symptoms. We all have the same thing in common: it only happens in Office 365 -- Word, Outlook, OneNote.  Also, it isn't restricted to the 1660 ti -- the problem is seen with various nVidia and AMD GPUs. Nobody has found a failproof solution. 

Any suggestions, apart from ditching the PC and going with a new one with integrated graphics?
