Can't Install .NET Framework 1.1 from Windows Update

When I try to Install the .NET Framework 1.1 from Windows Update, I get an error message saying that I need to debug. I try to debug and it says I can't. Then I try to ignore the debug thing by clicking "don't debug" or simply ignoring the window but neither seems to help. At this point, I can't install .NET Framework 1.1. How do I fix this?

I suppose you could try downloading the whole package to your hard disk and then manually running the install.

Okay, I tried installing .NET Framework from the link you provided and the installation froze during the finishing phase. Therefore, I had no choice but to shut down the installation through ctrl+alt+del since it wasn't responding. I tried to install it again but now I the installer won't start up because it says that Windows Installer encountered an error and couldn't initiate the installation.

Okay, I found the problem. It was Norton. I disabled Norton and the installation proceeded normally and finsihed. Thanks for all your help, everyonne.

I restarted the computer and am attempting to install .NET Framework 1.1 again. It has gotten to the point where it froze but I'm going to wait this time to see if it progresses anywhere and what it does.

Yes, I have the latest version of Windows Installer. The only two things that I can install on the Windows Update website are the .NET Framework 1.1 and something concerning Windows Media Player.

Can you confirm that you are using the latest Windows installer version 3.1 which should be available on the Windows update site.

Must make a note of that solution in my scrapbook.
