Cheap quality of Keyboard Panel (space in between keys) of Inspiron15R N5110

Hello,

Last week I bought Dell Inspiron 15R N5110 model with high config. Service Tag<ADMIN NOTE:Service tag removed per privacy policy>

Whenevr I type anything, even pressing keys softly, the keyboard panel (the metal/plastic sheet in between key) also starts moving in and out.

This really looks very bad. I really dont believe that Dell can design the keyboard panel in such a way that, even it should move along with each key press.

With this complaint I 1st submitted email request @ Dell site on 22-08-2011 14:15:23 email reference is MWD  (KMM17040227I23241L0KM)

Thne I again called Dell technical support on Wed, Aug 24, 2011 at 10:49 AM and even I email the service agent on Thu, Aug 25, 2011 at 10:40 AM with Dell case #: 840639265.

Then the customer agent replied on Aug 25, 2011 at 12:06 PM saying he will revert back on the issue. But he never replied.

Again I submitted request @ unresolved complaints at Dell website on Mon, Aug 29, 2011 at 3:09 PM with ref Case ID: 5294548 (OutstandingIssue)  #AutoReply#  (KMM17090857I23241L0KM)

But till date I have not received any resolution from Dell. I always believed that Dell is master at cusstomer service but this time I have been very dissatisfied with the way the requests are processed, and I hope to gain some resolution on my case. I've been an avid Dell user for years and I do hope that I can continue to put faith in Dell andits support. This has been an unfortunate and frustrating experience, and I'dlike to resolve it before I can commit to making further purchases from Dell.

Can any one here address the issue? Please note that system is not even 2 weeks old !!!!!!!

Thank you for reading my complaint.

how does it move? up and down? my 15r has the same cheap keyboard, ive taken it apart for upgrades a few times thou. it has clips that push (almost hidden) at the very top. check to see if the keyboard plate is underneath all of them.  my keyboard does flex quit a bit, but it doesnt actally move in any direction.

Yes. It always move up and down! Yes I have already checked it keenly. This keyboard plate/pannel is already underneath all the clips. This is really not acceptable. Have you seen any branded laptop with such cheap quality keyboard. i fully understand that there could be an error while building the laptop. But at least Support system should be proactive enough to take care of this. But here no one is really concerned?? and it is note worthy that I have opted for 3 years complete cover warranty.

But believe me thing were not like this before soem years. I always got best support for my Optiflex desktop. Thats why I again bought Dell Laptop, But this time I am really not pleased about the Dell Support System.

I just bought a N5110 as well, and brand new right out of the box I noticed the same thing about the plastic keyboard panel being flimsy. It's really annoying because when I type, it makes a clicking noise as I press the keys and I can actually see the plastic panel moving up and down with the stroke of the keyboard. I came on to see if anyone had the same problem, and it seems that it is a common problem for this model. I too am disappointed. Dell has always had good service along with good products. I've never owned any other types of computers besides dells (this is my fifth one), and I must say that their quality used to be better than this. I am disappointed that they have cut corners and resorted to cheap plastic material.

Hi Sachin,

I got a laptop from work and it has the same issues. The keyboard flexes inwards when typing. Worst is that mine drives me crazy. The worst thing is when i am typing, I have the following issues:

1) Another letter or character might appear

2) Cursor will jump randomly anywhere in the text

3) Change line automatically

I have complained individually to Dell. But have not got a response yet. Will most probably return it to the retailer. It is not fit for purpose.

Mine is 2 weeks old as well.

So far all i can say is Dell=Hell.

Hope someone from customer service is listening to this.

i agreed,  i also use newly board n5110 by my company, the keyboard look-like unscrew type, when u typing, the all keyboard u can feel is moving down and up when you are typing, and also got chik chik sound. when i see youtube on dismantle 15r, it's very simple to remove keyboard, it's look no screw at all.... you can see how easy to remove the keyboard ..    i thing dell need to improve... or may be 15r is a big keyboard.... my colic purchase 14r same model, it's no facing this problem .... may be there's no extra numberic keypad
