Cracked Screen - Inspiron 13 7000 Series 2-in-1 (7347)

Hi

I purchased an Inspiron 13 7000 Series 2-in-1 (7347) a few months ago now.

One evening after finished using it, the laptop was turned off and put away as normal.

The next time it was switched on, the screen had cracked!

This now means the touchscreen is useless and makes the laptop unusable at times.

I have already called Dell support and was asked to send pictures to a support staff member.

He has not responded and may have left the Dell Support??

Can someone please assist in resolving this, the laptop has not been mistreated or abused in any way, the screen has simply cracked from closing the lid of the laptop!

HELP!

I went to the Dell corp website and sent email to the top executives. I have had my share of business quality laptops, which is how Dell is positioning this unit. No doubt there are defects with this form factor.

My laptop was not dropped nor compressed. When the crack first showed it only traveled halfway up the screen. After a shipping cycle sending back then returning un-repaired, the screen was fully cracked, hence my argument that even normal use by Dell techs can crack the screen.

Attached is a picture of the original crack. The white cursor indicates the end point of the crack which starts at the bottom middle.

So far the unit is working well since a tech came to the house to repair (no charge) back in february of this year (2016). To be sure I'm care how I open the lid due to the obvious flex with lid. I avoid putting stress on the corners. Always use the top center to position.

I have a Lenovo thinkpad yoga where I work. In hind-sight I should have bought a Lenovo thinkpad series unit...much more fit to be a realistic ultrabook/tablet-mode laptop.
