Dell inspiron 7520: Loose charging port, missing rubber ring insert

Hello to all of the Dell Community!

In our hands we have a Dell Inspiron 7520, to which the battery does not stay in the charging port and is loose, to which it often falls out and the computer switches off.

In retaliation to this, i have ordered a new charging port, but also have noticed that, their is originally a small rubber ring which is missing, which is normally in front of the charging port, on the laptops casing and looks like it keeps the charger in the port, preventing it from sliding out so easily.

Where in gods name can i find this small little piece :D it has been the hardest thing to look for and find, an can not seem to get it anywhere! or know of the proper name for it.

Regards

MJ

@DELL-Robin D

I managed to fix and solve the problem, so here it is for anyone else who may of had the same problem.

I replaced the DC Power Jack Socket, which was simple as it simply clicks in, an is not soldered

Then i replaced the bottom case cover of the laptop (Part Number: K1R3M)

This solved the problem as the new case came with the rubber/plastic peice arround the hole, which the power cord now goes into stiffly and is not loose at all!

Problem solved!

Hi,

Thank you for writing to us!

Can you please confirm when you say charging port you are talking about the battery not staying in its slot and keep falling off.

This small rubber ring that you are talking about if it is from the adapter end would be a part of the adapter and not a stand alone/separate part and if its on the system then it would be a part of the panel .

Kindly private message the service tag and email address.

We would also like to know the system was dropped or damaged in any way.

Thanks

Robin

Hello Robin

I can confirm that it is the power cord not staying plugged in DC, an is loose, to which it pops out.

I have spoken to Dell technical department, who advised me that the part i need (the rubber/plastic) which is on the circle hole, on the side of the laptop, is not sold separatly and is attached to the bottom case cover of the laptop.

Part Number: K1R3M and this is what i would need to buy.
