Dell Inspiron M5030 - 7 beeps and black screen - processor failure

Hi,

I bought my Dell M5030 in February 2011, meaning that the warranty has expired. All was fine until I started the laptop up a couple of days ago and I got a black screen and 7 beeps, which according to the book means processor failure. I have tried several time to start the computer and the same thing happens each time.

I would appreciate any advice as I have seen on this forums that a number of other people have had the exact same problem with this particular model and therefore sounds like a fault with the processors in these Dell laptops.

Thanks

I have two of these Dell Inspirons m5030's laptops.  One is doing the 7 beeps of death while the other is still functioning.  The one that is dead has been used more than the other and I am now waiting for that one to fail also!  I would love to sign up for a class-action law suit!  I  have read about so many of the same problems with this model and I believe that Dell is aware of it, but chooses to do nothing about it!  Terrible, don't think I will ever buy another Dell product again!

I found this temp fix, power the notebook on for ten or fifteen min or longer and then power off and restart the computer it will come on normally. The only caveat is to withstand the constant beeping, I disable the sound by detaching the Touch pad. There is a YouTube video on this fix. Kevin

Same  <ADMIN NOTE: Substitute character removed as per TOU> here. So are you people telling me that its better to buy a 2nd hand laptop on e-bay than to try to fix my dell inspiron m5030? I think I will never buy a Dell product again, seriouslly. And when you ask for help here its the same answer everywhere! But nothing works though...

Hi jethro1 and nxashaly,

I am sorry about the situation; The 7 beep code indicates that there is a processor/motherboard failure. Try releasing the static power and check the system is working. Follow the steps below.

Switch off the system; remove the battery, ac adapter and the power cable. Press and hold down the power button for thirty seconds to drain any excess static power. in case the issue persists, Please send me the system service tag or express service code through this private chat, I will see what best can be done.
