Dell XPS 13 2015 Scaling problems

It is very frustrating with a laptop of almost EUR 2,000 to have severe problems with blurry menus and unreadable fonts in some programs. It is obviously a scaling error in the software, but neither Microsoft nor Dell care about it. Windows 10 did not give any improvement. It should be relatively simple to solve as it is just a linear enlargement compared to HD resolution. HD does not show any problem.

Has anyone got a solution or workaround? I sometimes use the magnifier (win +) to read the very small fonts, but that is of course not the solution for a high quality laptop..

I've just received my new 2015 XPS 13 and am appalled at how bad my new system's display is with regards to font scaling, blurry menus, etc.  You have GOT to be kidding me!  Have they even tried to load Quicken 2016, VueScan, GoodSync, Evernote, or even Windows PowerShell?  Each is a hot mess, with its' own issues.  I'm on the verge of taking this thing back to Costco for a full refund.  What awful quality control, Dell!

I just purchased a Dell eps 13 (9350) There is a problem with scaling. Some programs are fine. Auto cad's tool bars are so small they can't be used. In Maps when you zoom in the roads disappear. In Google earth the drag icon is very small and the stat fonts are very large

Hi Coenraaddesveld

Like you I am having problems with many programs having far too small fonts and, like you, have on occasion resorted to the magnifier! Stupid that one has to do this.

Some of the other posters are mentioning older software but I'm even having problems with a brand new 2016 edition of Quickbooks!

Am I right in thinking this is a Windows/software issue rather than Dell's?  Has one found a solution/workaround?

My XPS 13 is the 9350 model with the QHD Touch screen, running Win 10.

Most of the problems are with old software, but also with Office 2016 I had a problem. When saving a word file in html - I use this for a number of pages of my website - the scaling of the pictures was completely wrong. I contacted Microsoft and they were not able to come with any solution, but simply said that it is the fault of Dell, whereas Dell says it is a Windows problem. Existing software should be redesigned for the high-dpi scaling. Of course at the Microsoft help desk most people are not really qualified and in fact don't know the background of the problem. What I found on internet is that it is indeed a Windows problem and hopefully this scaling problem will be solved in the new release (Redstone) coming this summer.

I found the following workaround: http://www.danantonielli.com/adobe-app- ... plays-fix/ in an Adobe forum. The menu on my Dell XPS 13 2015 can now be read, and also the html problems and other scaling issues could more or less be solved, but the screen is very blurry. The workaround works via a so-called manifest file and a simple registry hack by which the dpi scaling can be switched off. Per application a manifest file should be stored. This manifest file can be copied from the above link.
