Dell XPS 13 (9350) Screen Flicker

Just received the XPS 13 (9350) last week and I've been having some intermittent black screen flickering that normally occurs in short bursts of 4-5 short black outs within a span of two or three seconds. Tech support updated all the drivers and such, but I'm still experiencing the issues. Has anyone had similar issues and possible solutions?

I looked at previous posts and the screen flickering is not where it actually distorts things on screen, it literally just looks like it flashes on and off. Any help is appreciated!

If you search really deep - then the problem is reported as a hardware issue in this thread and on this site.

Need to replace the following---------------

Read the entire thread..............Tell DELL the problem or spend a around £30 and sort it yourself.

Good Luck

Well said -

DELL are ignoring the problem - when the community know the answer.

Bottom line - return a great machine (arguments aside) and get a refund.

OR

Bite the bullet - replace the card for £30 -

I am on my third machine - spent ages on Tech Support.
Decided to sort it myself - I fitted the new card.

I refuse to beta test hardware for Dell, especially hardware that is $2,200 USD.  I'm done with the XPS 13 platform, and am taking a hard look at future IT related purchases for my company.

While the problem may be the wireless card, aren't "we" telling them the problem by posting on their forums?

Based on my previous issue with the first XPS13, I gave the replacement about 20 minutes before it was boxed back up and a return label printed.

I'm sure Dell can see based on the tech support and returns, they have a problem.  Whether or not they intend to fix it is another thing.  It doesnt appear they are planning anything soon considering the age of this thread.

I have a keyboard, mouse and ethernet hooked up to the usb and a 24inch monitor hooked up to the usb-c port.  The monitor will go blank from time to time and reopening the lid will bring it back up.  Every once in a while, I have to unplug the usb-c and replug in to bring the monitior back up.  I am using a VGA adapter.  If I use a hdmi adapter or a DVI adapter, the monitor goes berserk.   Today the laptop has started putting the printer off line.  If I get it on line, it says I need to reload the paper.    I have updated the drivers.

Have the same problem. Laptop connected to an external monitor via USB-C and screen flickers randomly.  Drivers are all up to date and disabled the 802.11d setting but still happens.  Can now reproduce the issue by running a youtube video in full screen on an external monitor.  Not keen on messing around with Dell support so appreciate the pain others are going through to get this fixed!

Colin,

You addressed this issue quite some time ago, but I'm having a problem with my XPS 13 9350 now.  I am using a USB-C to HDMI adapter and am experiencing intermittent flickering of both the laptop display and my external monitor.  The USB-C to HDMI is never seamless to begin with, but this is creating a bigger problem. It interrupts my work and moves applications around when it flickers.  I tried replacing the adapter, but am still experiencing the same problem.  I've also updated my BIOS, downloaded updates, etc. but nothing has resolved the issue.  Any other recommendations?

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me!

We found that the problem is with the TB15 Dock, we had to change the POWER OUTPUT on the Wireless Adapter to 50%, there is a conflict with the Ethernet and Wireless adapters. We just recd replacement docks TB16's, but the power still can not be above 75%.  As soon as we reduced the power to 50% on the TB15's everything worked like a charm. Good Luck.

I've had issues with the wifi/bluetooth adapter.  I replaced it with an Intel  Dualband-Wireless-AC 7265
