High-pitched noise from Inspiron 15R

My laptop has been making a high-pitched sound nonstop as long as the laptop is on. It's inaudible if there is other background noise (from a TV or music) but in a quiet place like the library, the noise drives me up the wall. Is there anything I can do about this? It seems to be coming from the left side of the keyboard. I've only had this laptop for two months.

I have the same issue. I have a Dell Inspiron 3537 bought 4 weeks ago and the noise appeared from the begging only that I've been using the battery ass well.

When only with battery the sound disappears completely.

If plugged in but with battery still on, the sound appears.

If plugged in with battery removed the noise is still active even when the laptop is shutdown! ( this I don't understand at all ).

PS: I talked with two of my friends from the city with dell laptops and they all have the same issue.

It's your power adapter.

I had the same problem today. The noise was audible only when i wasn't using a battery or when the battery was fully charged.I used the intel driver update utility which found a driver update for my chipset. The noise seems be gone after the installation of the driver
