how do I format and start from new with factory disc

Please share the operating system installed on your computer. Did you create the recovery disc or your received it from from Dell?

I have Windows Vista and no recovery disc just the two that came with my studio .

Please specify the type of disc you have. You may refer to the image below:

Operating System Disc:

Drivers and Utilities Disc:

If you have the operating system disc, you can perform a clean install of the operating system. Please refer to the link : http://dell.to/Y92ARm 
Note: This step leads to complete data loss including pictures, music files, videos, documents and applications.
