If you did a clean install of Windows 7 then you will need to install the drivers from the resource DVD that came with the laptop.
Just out the disc in and install and then it will launch a browser where you can install all the drivers for your laptop.

Using the disk that came with the computer works well. If you are the original owner and live in the United States, you can click below my signature for a backup set of disks.
You can also go to Drivers & Downloads, enter your service tag number. Download the Vista drivers and install them in the compatibility mode. If you have Windows 7 32-bit, then install the Vista 32-bit drivers. If you have Windows 7 64-bit then install the Vista 64-bit drivers.
Right click on the drivers file, left click properties, left click compatibility. Change the compatibility to Vista. Then right click on the drivers, left click run as administrator.

Hello Rahul, I just have got my new Inspiron 1564. and just got the same issue with webcam. Device manager shows the USB WebCam if I check in the detail.
Then I tried to install the Webcam driver (LiteOn Sonix) which I installed on my Vostro 1710 and still is working. But it didn't work on Inspiron 1564.
Can you please let me how did you get drivers updated correctly for the webcam on your Inspiron 1564?
Thanks

@Rick,
Dell Drivers & Downloads page doesn't list any other OS for Inspiron 1564 but only "Windows 7 - 64bit". however it detects the System Type when you download the drivers and gives the according type of driver, means 32bit drivers for 32bit systems and 64bit drivers for 64bit systems.
Again, the page doesn't list Vista or XP drivers when you go with Inspiron 1564.
Can you please provide any other solution
Thanks
Khurram

belskar,
Try using these drivers and see if they work.
Creative Labs Integrated Webcam (Vista 32-bit and 64-bit)
Please remember to install these in the Compatibility mode
Right click on the drivers file, left click properties, left click compatibility. Change the compatibility to Vista. Then right click on the drivers, left click run as administrator.

:( Nop! didn't work.
I also tried almost all drivers listed in the following Search Results. but nothing worked. some of them were got finished when started installation and asked for the computer to restart. and some of them started with a message saying "setting up software driver now" but right during this process it gets intrupted with an error "An error occured while setting up the driver"
Search Results For: Creative Labs Integrated Webcam
aside from above search results, I also tried installing the webcam driver that was available fr Inspiron 1525. But it also finished intallaton right after click install button and asked to restart the computer.
And in this way, restarting te computer didn't make a change with the webcam drive. It is intact showing as a "USB Webcam" rather than a "Laptop Integrated Webcam".
and so is the reason the Dell Webcam Manager couldn't detect the valid webcam drivers.
I am still facing this issue. and any help will really be appreciated.
Thank you very much.
Regards
Khurram

II downloaded the webcam driver using the link suggested by you for dell inspiron 1564 core i3. I installed windows 7 32-bit version.
But, while opening dell webcam central,it is saying that "please plug in the supported device".
what to do then?
Please reply me as soon as possible.

Thanks.

Did the same, but no success. Skype doesn't recognize webcam too. Under device manager it's shown as "usb webcam" and there is no unknown devices. It's unusual that webcam driver isn't listed in dell's drivers support site. Did you solve the problem? Could anybody help?
