Inspiron 7500 Battery

I have a 3 1/2 year old Dell Inspiron 7500. This machine is always plugged into the wall socket. I think I have run the pc on the battery alone for a grand total of 4 hours.

Question--Can the battery go Ka-Put even though the pc is always run off the adapter?

Thanks

I don't know about that computer in terms of how it protects the battery from being overcharged.  I know with the news it's not a problem.  If your battery has the battery gauge press and hold the button for about 3 seconds and see if any lights stay on.  Or you can look at your manual.

cloverbell,

Yes, a battery can go bad even if it has not been used. A trinkle charge will still go to the battery as long as it is in the system, which basically means that the battery will drop down a little to around 97% and then charge back up to 99 or 100%.

Thank you for choosing Dell.
