Inspiron N5110 integrated webcam not working

I bought Inspiron N5110 last week. Right from the first day, I could not use the integrated webcam with Dell Webcam central or with skype software. when I open Dell webcam central, it displays this message at the bottom "No supported Webcam connected". Even in Skype, when I click on the Video, nothing shows up. I uninstalled and reinstalled dell webcam central, but no use. I also uninstalled the webcam driver from Device Manager -> Imaging devices and then reinstalled. But it's still the same. I also could not see any driver for webcam from my computer model in Dell website. driver support Any one has the same problem?

wajiha,

Click on the Blue PudgyOne

On the next page, click on send message. We'll communicate privately.

Some of Dell's webcams do have issues and I was working with the person to help solve this.

wajiha,

Do you have Dell Webcam Central installed?

What do you see when you open it?

Click on the little arrow and try the setting I have highlighted.

I am aso facing the same problem with my N5110. Dell is not providing CD for Driver. I downloaded all drivers and installed, but nothing is working. Dell Webcam central is not available in the list. When i tried to download from other source of DELL, it is asking for credential, but after providing the correct credentials, it is not logging, throwing some error.

Still my warranty is not updated online...I gave up after calling many a times to the customer care and the vendor.

dear Terry,

I have the same problem with my integrated webcam too.

In my case, my display goes blank every now and then even though the system will still be working.  I then have to press the power button, be required to login again before i can continue working.

I also realized that the system gets very hot and goes off with a continuous sound and blank screen. when that happens, i again have to press the power button to restart the whole computer again, and loose all work done.

prior to buying this laptop, i read a lot and concluded that dell was the best to buy, but it obviously doesnt' seem i getting the best out of my investment.

please help if you can, cos i love my dell regardless

Try reading Using and Troubleshooting the Dell Webcam and Dell Webcam Central Software

There has been a sucess with trying the words in red. The blue link also goes to Dell's website with an article to help troubleshoot your webcam.

I would first try...

Locate the execute file (WebcamDell2.exe) buried in...

C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell Webcam\Dell Webcam Central

Right clicked on it, then left click properties, then clicked on the compatibility tab, then changed compatibility from windows XP to Windows Vista service pack 2 (the latest one they had).

Thanks Velma,

Somehow I was succeeded and got to download "Dell Webcam Centre", Installed on my PC. When I open this, it is now asking "No supported webcan driver detected. Please install the webcam driver using the Dell Resource CD and launch Webcam Centre again".

The webcam is working fine on Skype.

Hi All, I was the one who created this thread. sorry for the late update. My problem got fixed only when Dell replaced the laptop motherboard with a new one. In my case, it was clearly a hardware issue.

Hi Terry,

Even I downloaded and installed the below driver for WebCam but in vain mentioned in the below link.

:

After installing the above driver, when I am opening the application, it is giving the error "No supported webCam driver detected. Please install the WebCam Driver and using the Dell Resource CD and launch the WebCam again"

Please suggest me on the same.

Thanks & Regards,

Ajay.

Hi Terry,

I have purchased Dell Inspiron N5110 with i5/4GB/500GB config with out OS (with BIOS).

I installed windows 7 Professional 32-bit and I downoaded and installed all drivers.

After installing Windows 7, By seeing so many posts, I think there is no extra cam driver need to be installed to work with WebCam. But in my Laptop, Cam itself is not detecting.

Could please give me link to download WebCam Drivers or any solution for the same.

Thanks & Regards,

Ajay.
