keypad
hi i am new to this i spilled coffee on laptop inspiron 1720 everything worked except keypad which i am after replacing but still the same all working except the row starting with q thats mixed up the q is the tab the w is capslock can anyone help me thanks

If what you're saying is that the new keyboard didn't fix the problem, then try an external keyboard. If it works, then it's the keyboard controller that was damaged, which means the mainboard will need to be replaced.

if this is the case can i order the parts and install them myself are they expensive

Parts People are a popular source for replacement parts for Dell systems/laptops.
Alternatively... if the cost of replacing the whole keyboard is more than you were hoping to pay ($37.50 for 'B' grade/$49.95 new), there are one or two sites which sell individual laptop keyboard keys - i.e. Laptopkey ($4.99 per key) :emotion-5:

thanks for that an external keypad is working wonder if i removed and cleaned the mainboard would it solve my problem
