Serious problem with graphics card ATI HD 5470 on Studio 1558
Last summer i made a financial effort and bought a Dell Studio 1558. I was an Asus fan but i said to me a change is always better. I was wrong. Everything was fine for a few months, i didnt encounter any problems that ive read on this forum but a few days ago without a warning my graphic card failed. In game i ussualy get 60-80 fps(modern warfare 2) now i only get 20 fps max(very laggy with freezes) with the same configuration as before. I tried everything: uninstall-install the video driver, get the latest driver from amd.com which didnt work, i let the windows to autoinstall the video card didnt work. The only solution that works for a while is to reinstall windows but is very unconfortable because in a few days this problem come back. Also when im trying to watch an HD video(1080p) it runs in slow motion. I hope some one from Dell read this message and find a solution because they can lose customers over this tiny problems without a solution. If you have a solution please post it here or if you need any logs or something ask and i will post them here. Thank you
My laptop config:
Cpu: Intel i5 M430 2.27 Ghz (4 Cpu)
Ram: 4 Gb/1066
Graphics card: ATI HD 5470 / 1GB
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate / 64 bit

No, you cannot - the chip is part of the mainboard.

Which Dell laptop should I buy to get better gaming experience in Studio or
Inspiron range?
I know Alienware is the best for gaming but it too expensive.

The barest minimum system to get would be an XPS15 -- and that, only if it's for casual gaming. For any serious level of gaming, you'll want an Alienware M14x or better -- and if the budget won't stretch that far, buy a desktop system. You will NOT be happy with any Inspiron system for gaming - and the same goes for just about any new system in the sub-$1,500 range.

I am facing exact same problem. All of sudden, my graphics card stops working without any sign. I have re-installed Windows, but does not work after reboot. :( Can anybody suggest anything ? Do I need to replace whole motherboard if graphics card is faulty ?
