For more information, my Screen Resolution always show the Display mode is: [1. Mobile PC Display]. I press the Detect button, the Display mode show more mode [Available display output on: Intel(R) HD Graphics Family]. But I cannot choose this mode. If I press OK, the Display mode will be back to [1. Mobile PC Display] .... I use Window 7 64bit.

Could you help me to fix this problem, please ....

I'm getting the same error after upgrading to Windows 8, which driver should I install from the list?

I know this is an old thread, but this might help someone.

I have an Alienware M15x. When I installed an SSD drive, I uninstalled the freefall sensor (don't need it, since there aren't platters in an SSD hard drive). Even though the driver was uninstalled, the Windows 7 Action Center would come up with the message "Solve a problem with ST Micro Screen Detection Sensor."

There actually IS NO PROBLEM. The Action Center is detecting a false error. In my case, when I clicked on "View all problems this applies to" at the bottom of the window, I was able to see that Windows 7 was trying to install a driver but it couldn't find the driver software.

Since I didn't need the software, disabling the device in Device Manager fixed the issue for me. (Other Devices, Unknown Device, right-click and select Properties, go to the Details tab. My sensor had the hardware ID ACPI\SMO8800.)

Hope this helps.

Chris

Hi,

My PC keeps nitifying that I have a PC issue - my version of Windows is not apparently compatible with the ST Micro ScreenDetection Sensor or Accelerometer.

However, I have both the device listed in System Devices and when I open FreeFall Data Protection, it opens normally and says its enabled.

What to do?

Hello Terry,

I've got this warning on my laptop: Lattitude 6520.

Please provide me with a link to driver download. Dell website  cannot scan my computer, I get error message.

Your help is appreciated.

Yesterday my laptop was fine, today it showed the same msg. When I go to the System Device and the FreeFall Data Protection, it seems ok and the FreeFall doesn't fail nor get any error. What should I do? The version of my ST MICRO ACCELEROMETER is 1.0.0.15. My laptop is a XPS 15 (L502X). Thank you.

This is for hard drive protection.  What does it have to do with the monitor not working?

Hello friend,

I was experiencing the same problem as you. I also have the N411Z notebook, and it is a pretty amazing machine. I love it!
What my machine was doing is that whenever it had finished booting up, and i was at my home screen, the screen was glitching and i was seeing a whole bunch of black, white, and tanish looking lines. This would happen all the time. When i went to device manager i did not see my ST sensor, and freefall was not showing up on my control panel, so what i did was the fallowing.

I fallowed the link that Mr. Terry has posted up, and i downloaded the first file, and it seems that everything is there now...  good luck

Good Day,

I have started to receive a message that indicates my ST Micro Screen detection sensor is faulty. I cannot find it in the device manager - indication it is not on the system.Trying to find a down load on the Dell website at search.dell.com/results.aspx  produces the following response.

What should I try next?

Regards

Colin
