Unable to set screen resolution above 640 x 480

I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 with ATI Mobility Radeon X300. It used to work fine but now whenever I try to set my screen resolution above 640 x 480, the screen goes black. After this, I can only reboot in safe mode to be able to view my desktop. I have installed the latest video driver from the Dell site, but the problem persists. Please advise.
Thanks in advance

Hello Sir,
Try to uninstall the video drivers from the device manager while you are in the safe mode. Then reboot the computer. If the problem still persists then boot to the safe mode and then delete the video driver from the control panel and then try to install the drivers from support.dell.com
Please reply if the issue is not resolved or if it is resolved this way.

Hello khaternaak,

I have already tried all this, no luck! What else could be the issue?

Thanks for the reply

I have a similar issue now with my Inspiron 9100.  Were you ever able to fix the problem?  If so, how?

Thanks
