Vostro 3550 with Switchable AMD Radeon HD3550M

I've got Vostro 3550 that I bought to improve my 3D entertainment. The problem is that I feel like I would have bought a computer from 1999 not from 2011. It looks like graphics switching doesn't work at all. There is a proof:

Cinebench OpenGL ratio is almost the same on ATI and on Intel Graphics (on Intel it's even better). What can I do? Driver is in version:8.811.1.5000.

Same problem here. Vostro 3550, bought in June 2011.

I haven't any problem running DirectX games, got awesome performance with high details, while on OpenGL games performance is even worse than a Latitude D610 dated 2005...

Tried all the things you said (and more), but nothing changes.

Looking forward see this problem fixed.

bobterri6  and you Inspiron N5110 owners

I believe that a similar BIOS upgrade will be available some time in October.  You will also need to install a fixed mode video driver and update Quickset and Power DVD.  You will use Quickset 10.09.25 A02 from the link above once the BIOS update becomes available.

I just updated my Vostro 3350 to bios A06. Is the disable switchable graphics option supposed to be in CMOS? I can't find the option going into setup.

Edit:

Didn't realize there was an updated video driver containing the new options. Found the new switchable options in the ati graphics settings. Problem solved.

The drivers and downloads page is being updated so that it may take a day or so for all the drivers to show up.  If you still are not able to download drivers you should be shortly.  I would check later today.

I still cannot download it Terry B. I tried to open those links for Inspiron N5110 and Vostro 3450 and they seem fine. But unfortunately until now I am not able to open the link for my Inspiron N4110.

there is one problem with your answer, i have and inspiron n4050 and on my current installed catalyst utility, i have no Switchable Graphics Method. Do i need to update? even tho i cant find any possible update on your website, nor can i download the appropriate drivers from amd's website. This is really bothering because i cant run most of my open-gl games at all.

The A07 BIOS is available and does have support for fixed mode graphics.  The driver may be found in the following link.

www.dell.com/.../DriverFileFormats

This post is regarding Vostro systems.  I checked and your Inspiron doesn't have switchable graphics, and thus there should be no option for switchable graphics.  Did you order the discrete AMD video card with the system? Not all systems ship with the AMD graphics by default.
