WiFi Adapter Stopped Working on Dell Studio 1555 w/ Win 7/64bit
I have a Dell Studio 1555 laptop running Win 7/64 bit. It has an Intel Link 5100AGN wireless adapter. Wireless adapter suddenly stopped working. There was a Windows update completed the day before. Coincidence?
I have:
- Rebooted numerous times.
- Updated driver.
- Made sure Wi-Fi was on using CTRL+F2 toggle.
- Deleted the adapter in Device Manager. Rebooted and allowed Windows to reinstall and configure.
- Rebooted numerous times.
- NOTE: The Ethernet works fine.
- NOTE: The router works fine with other laptops and smart televisions. Have not modified any router settings. But just in case, have rebooted modem and router many times.
- The laptop does see the home network. But it won't connect. I went to Manage Wireless Networks and deleted my home wireless network. Rebooted. It found the network. I entered passcode, but it would not connect.
- Will take it to Starbucks later today to see if it will connect to another Wi-Fi network.
- I have NOT done a system restore to before the Windows update. Might do that if it won't work with the Wi-Fi at Starbucks.
Any suggestions????
Not looking for heroic measures. It is a 5 year old laptop after all. Can probably solve the situation for the short term with a USB wireless adapter?
Just looking for any ideas as to if there was an easy fix I am missing. It just up and stopped connecting. There is a yellow star on the wireless bars on the system tray.
Thanks.

I have the same problem with my Studio 1555. I was still running the default Vista. Everything was working fine. I went out for a bit, came back and there was no connectivity.
I can't recall if there was a recent update, but it seems very strange. All attempts to use the Microsoft troubleshooting (which has always worked to date) have had no success.
I have upgraded to Windows 7 Home Pro (something I've been meaning to do for a while), but still no joy.
I will be searching for some network adapters on the net, will let you know how I go.
Would be great to get some advice from the Dell Professionals!
