Bitlocker and password bypass

I purchased a laptop 2nd hand and when I initially checked it out there were no password or locks. When I got home and reset the computer a Bitlocker recovery Key request popped up. I was able to search how to get back to the login screen but now theres a password. I never set one up so I assume it's from the previous owner, it there a ways around this? I'm not worried about the files on the laptop so would prefer a hard factory reset but everything I've tried wont get around the password.
