Cpu Upgrade core i5 to core i7?
So I have a dell laptop, and on the border around the case it says Latitude, but when I open the system information, it says its an INSPIRON N4110
anyway, I want to upgrade the Intel Core i5-2520M CPU 2.50 GHz Processor to a cuad core I7 processor, could anyone tell me if this is possible, and if so, with which quad core i7 processors could i do this with?
edit: i have found out that it is a Latitude E6420,
I want to use the core i7-2620QM, but is that possible?, or do i have to use the I7-2620M due to the fact that my computer currently uses only a dual core processor

These did ship with quad-core i7 options - so the i7-2xxxQM CPUs at 35W should work. Don't install any 45W CPU - these will overheat.

The answer is that under normal circumstances, yes - that CPU will work. It was shipped in this model system. That said, this is a 6+ year old system with 6+ year old resistors, capacitors, and voltage regulators. It's try and see -- with older hardware, it may work - or the added demands of the quad CPU may blow out components on the board. I would not spend a significant sum on the upgrade - it's just not going to make enough of a difference to justify more than $20.

What does the system's firmware (F2 at powerup) report for the system model?

So if I did this would I have to upgrade to windows 10 because I heard from a friend that you can’t run windows 7 on an intel i7 processor

I have a e5530 with a 3630qm installed and it works without issues. If you can get a hold of one of these 36xx or 37xx qm CPUs the upgrade will be worth your while. From my research before upgrading i also found owners with 3740qm installed however the price tag on those deterred me from buying one.
