Do integrated circuits depend on manufacturer?

Hi, recently 4 circuits broke in my Dell laptop, and I was able to replace 3 of them but couldn't find the fourth one, so my laptop does not turn on anymore. The circuit I'm missing is an AO7400A, and I can find a few of them online but none of them says if it's for Dell or anything, does it matter? Would a generic one fit just fine or are they made specific for different kinds of laptops and manufacturers?
