Dell Command Update issue with Windows 10 app version
Since the Meltdown and Spectre exploits became big news in 2018, we've been using Dell Command Update to expedite BIOS updates. For a while, we were installing the Windows 10/Windows Universal App versions, but we started noticing issues with getting Command Update to run for all users with this app version.
On our master image, we now install the "Dell Command | Update Application" version, but we noticed a few months ago that the app occasionally updates itself while checking for updates and installs the Windows Universal App version. Recently, we've noticed that after this occurs, we can no longer launch Dell Command Update from the start menu. We're not sure if these computers will continue to automatically check for Dell updates in the background.
The only way that we've resolved this is to uninstall Dell Command Update and re-download the latest version from the Dell Support page. I'm curious if anyone else has noticed this issue and knows how to resolve it without requiring a reinstall each time a new version of Dell Command Update is released.
