Dell E5530 immediately shuts down after pressing power button
My Dell E5530 (Core i3, Windows 10 64-bit, 8GB RAM, will shut down in about a half a second upon pressing the power button. I get the disk activity light for about a half a second, then the computer shuts off. Happens every time. To get it to fully boot, I have to:
- Pull the battery
- Pull the power (Dell 90-watt)
- Hold power button down for 10 seconds
- Insert power supply
- Press power button
- Install battery
Upon doing these actions, the computer then boots and performs normally. A standard hardware test returns no errors.
Once the laptop is booted, it can be restarted and will boot normally. It's only the cold boot that exhibits the problem.
I have two brand new aftermarket batteries that both indicate full charge. Original Dell battery exhibits the same issue, but the battery needed to be replaced as I was getting the two-yellow-flash indication on the battery indicator.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I want to add that when I shut down the laptop and immediately try to start it again, it exhibits the same behavior and will not let me boot it until I go through the aforementioned routine. So I don't believe it's a solder joint.

Do you get Dell Logo and rolling dots when it powers off ?? Tell us more ??
Disable Fast start up from control panel.
The issue is certainly not tolerable and I would recommend a clean install OS as well getting a new CMOS battery.

I get the usual circling dots at start-up and shut-down. Windows was cleanly installed on the hard drive. I even tried an SSD. Same instant-shut-down behavior. I will look into the CMOS battery.

You didn't mention in first post. You have reinstalled the OS and swapped with SSD
Most probably a motherboard will be needed here.

I did the swap after I posted. I'm still trying anything to try to figure out what the problem is. I still like your idea of the CMOS battery. I haven't tried to replace that yet.

Welcome to the Dell Community @cjsebes1
Before replacing the BIOS/CMOS battery try shorting/clearing the CMOS with the onboard jumper.

@cjsebes1
Found one in my warehouse.
Located in the lower left corner of the memory bay.
CMOS reset.
ME reset.
Remove the AC adapter and Main battery.
Then use a small flathead screw driver to short the 2 Gold/Copper contacts.
Turn the laptop over and attach only the AC adapter.
It should try to boot 2-3 times.

Thank you, @U2CAMEB4ME
Is this method similar to pulling the battery and power then holding the power button down for 10 seconds? Because that's how I have to boot the computer.
I tried your method. However, after the laptop does boot after the second or third time, once I shut down, it goes right back to the original problem of turning off instantly after pressing the power button.
Upon doing some research on replacing the CMOS battery, 1) it requires almost a complete disassembly of the laptop, and 2) I'm seeing evidence that this wouldn't cause the issue I'm seeing. I'm going to hold off with this as a last resort. I'm going to try resetting the BIOS to it's factory settings.

If it tries to boot like you said, you did a complete reset.
That is like removing the CMOS/BIOS coin-cell battery.
Dell at times will install these contacts.
It saves the tech the time of not having to disassemble the whole laptop.
So that would eliminate the coin-cell battery.
Try removing/disconnecting the HDD and test.
