@qthomas11  That's correct.  There is no industry standard for an external Power button (currently), so that function of docking stations from a given vendor only works with that vendor's laptops -- and not even necessarily ALL of that vendor's laptops.  There are some Dell systems that don't have the necessary firmware level support for the Power button on Dell docks, which has come as a nasty surprise to people who use Inspiron and Alienware systems.  The reverse is also true, by the way.  If you had a Lenovo dock, its power button wouldn't work with Dell systems.  I have both Dell and Lenovo systems and Dell and Lenovo docks at home.

And be aware that certain other features won't work from non-Dell systems either for the same reason.  These include PXE boot, MAC Address Passthrough, and (I believe) the ability to update the firmware of the dock.  I know that last one was true for the previous generation WD15, but I haven't tried updating the firmware of a WD19 from a non-Dell system.
