E6540 Maximum Resolution
I'm looking at buying a used Latitude e6540. I've seen two of these units before, and both had a resolution of 1920x1280. But the listing for this one says a resolution of 1366x768. Is this a mistake, or was this unit sold with multiple LCD types?
It's also an i5 low on RAM. But I have another e6540 that's fine except for a bad motherboard. I'm thinking I should be able to take the i7, 16GB RAM, and even LCD panel out of that other system and put them into the new one if I get it. I'd rather not replace the LCD Panel if I don't have to, but how to do it is in the manual.
Is all this doable?

Okay, the manual does confirm that it's sold with both 1920x1080 and 1366x768. Still, I should be able to take the 1920x1080 LCD from the one and transplant it to the other, and replace the i5 CPU with an i7, shouldn't I? Or would it require a different motherboard?

It won't require a different system board but if you're buying a screen, be sure you buy one the is compatible with your system (you cannot buy simply on specification), and note that on many system, the wiring harness that connects the display to the system board needs to be changed as well, since the original may not have all the wiring connections required by the FHD screen vs. the original HD one.

Well, I'm talking about taking the screen from one e6540 and putting it on another e6540. Is that not a sure thing?

All right, this sales site says to make sure new screen has same size, resolution, connector type as your old one. So, apparently, they're not necessarily interchangeable, and I should assume that you can't just transplant LCD's that way.
