HDMI issues Latide e6420 windows 10

trying to hook up my Sony AVR / RCA TV .my Toshiba i just ran HDMI cable to receiver in and then HDMI out to TV and everything worked . With this Dell   i get audio out but no visual . also after getting handshake noise computer screen goes to blank windows screen  and i loose all functions bottom right of screen . I've also noticed that when i assign duplicate screens with Fn+F8 it reverts back to computer  only  every time i check . i believe i have both Nividia and intel Graphics , i've read some threads in the community but i have yet to come across a solution to what i am experiencing . Please help ! thanks in advance

Nothing ? damn i was hoping for simple . Oh well . Here is a little more that may help someone help me . i checked cables they're ll good . this is a new hard drive install , but i had the same issue with video before but before i could still use my laptop display , now it is an empty windows screen ( see photo ) no apps no control functions bottom right . this morning while going through the Nividia users guide i noticed i'm not getting the whole control panel i'm only getting the 3D portion and no way to control display  .

Also this morning i uninstalled and reinstalled hoping that might work , it did not ! Like i stated , i can open and run Pandora and get the audio to my receiver but after handshake it goes to the screen below ....

Whenever you clean install Windows, you need to install the chipset driver first then all other drivers.

Sometimes, when you go online via Ethernet cable, Windows update will install the chipset driver.

I have the E6230 and I have no problems with sound on HDMI. I connected it to my TV.

Audio was never the issue , it video that's not getting sent even when i run it straight to TV .Also whatever is on screen changes to to empty windows ( see pic above ) and i lose all control from laptop , Both drivers and chip sets are recognized and shown as installed . i can't help but think there is conflict between the Nvidia 4200M and the Intel 3000 graphics cards . I'm trying everything a can find everywhere , thought a Dell community would be a good place but this is fruitless ....

A new installation of Windows 10 requires installing all drivers starting with the chipset driver.

If you are able to get online from the laptop  --- easier to do via Ethernet cable --- force a Windows 10 update by searching Check Updates. This is the best way to get all the needed drivers.

Otherwise, on a working PC, go to https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/latitude-e6420/drivers   and download the Windows 8 drivers to a USB flash drive and try installing them.

Looks like you are running some sort of Dell program to help you install drivers.

I don't do that.

I just download what I want.

that was from the Dell support directly from your link . unfortunately i don't know what i want or need . i did go to Intel's site and download that driver which also required some windows features to be installed . it may have been needed but is not the fix for my issue . still getting empty windows screen when HDMI is plugged in ...
