latitude 5591 overheating issue

Question

i have a new (2 months of work) latitude 5591 with i7-8850H and geforce MX130 , recently i noticed that my CPU temperature always between 55 - 65*C at normal (idle 50 - 55*C ) and it goes between 80-95*C when using an android emulator or android studio , sometimes some cpu cores hit its max temperature 100*C and that's what making me writing these post and asking if those numbers are normal !???? i tried a stress test on the cpu and gpu and i noticed that the fan is spinning more in (at its max ) 100%GPU load than a 100%CPU load , i think there must be a problem with the fan profile with the last bios version . please help me to know more about this issue because i afraid that i keep working on a 90*C cpu .

The temperature still hit 95*C and i am only using firefox with single window of dell community website and no background processes .

a bios update just released 30/07/2019 let's try this out they said that they updated thermal algorithms , i hope it will fix my problem .

Yes, I have recently bought a 5591 i7 and I've noticed that the fan is constantly running trying to cool under normal daily use of the PC. When I removed the back panel I noticed that the copper pieces that go towards the cooling fan are extremely warm and hot to touch. I have contacted Dell about this problem but they've only sent out replacement parts and the problem still exists after replacing. I strongly believe that this is a chassis issue with these laptops that we will have to deal with and hope our laptops can hold up in the long run.

Same thing , i have tried to downgrade the bios version to older versions but without any improvements.

I have 20 of them and 3 run hot.  Placing a pencil on each side to raise it off the desk fixed it.  I am sure a vented stand would work. Poor ventilation on the bottom.

Did you find any other options to address the issue? I've had the same issue, I am a software developer, it does heat up quite a bit when I am debugging web application. It is fine when working on console app. Few of my coworkers have the same laptop and they don't seem to have the heating issue.

I dont know if you guys are still dealing with it, but i have ThinkPad P52 with i7 8850H, and same overheating issue.

Problem is in CPU. Its really BAD CPU from Intel. They are struggling to make 10nm CPUs, so they are just trying to raise frequency, and add cores to raise performance ( on their 14nm+++++++). And i7 8850H is what they created.

I have Dev. machine, and using just Visual Studio, and temperatures are touching always 100 C, for all cores !

I have very bad experience with that. i need to wait about 5 second to enable intellisense, because CPU start working, it gets hot 100 degrees, then turn itself off, fan starts to blow, and then again may cooled CPU working.. so i have 'lagging' while developing. ( it is problem as well of BIOS fan scheduler, because laptop is trying to work 'noiseless' in result of this.)

Tip : So maybe try to increase fan speed based on CPU load

( i have older personal Dell laptop with i5 6300HQ and im developing there without single issue )

i guess its a chassis ventilation issue , use something to lift your laptop a from the table a little bit .
i also reduced turbo boost short power max to 45W using intel tuning utility (use the tool on your own risks)

I also noticed the issue looked to be related to Processor/Intel Turbo Boost. I turned Intel Turbo Boost off in BIOS just as a test and instantly my CPU temps at idle dropped from average of 90 Degrees to 42 Degrees at idle. I'll have to try the Tuning utility.

I've had this issue since buying my 5591 new two years ago. I don't think it's a ventilation issue, sometimes the fan starts running right after I power on. I've got my Dell on a wired stand so there's no platform underneath, plenty of air to get to it.

Can't stand the problem, it's so loud others notice it when I'm on a Zoom/Teams meeting.

Using MrZak-dev's approach, I also reduced the Turbo Boost Short Power Max to 45W via the Intel tuning utility and haven't had the issue with my fan running.
