LCD Leaking very sticky liquid

I have a Latitude E7450 - touch screen.

One year ago I have noticed a very sticky liquid leaking inside the LCD , it started with one bubble and now its is spread over 30% of the LCD and started out of one corner of the screen.  I read the XPS had the same problem. As well as round the screen the sticky stuff gets onto the base of the laptopThe curve line is the leaking inside the screenThe curve line is the leaking inside the screen

the leaking going out of the LCDthe leaking going out of the LCD

.

Is this a very weird fault!

Is it a sign of a defect in the design and manufacture?

Is there anything that can be done to fix it?

Thanks

yes bro this is a common problem with Dell screens it seems, see this thread that was closed by Dell Propaganda Dept: https://www.dell.com/community/XPS/LCD-Leaking-very-sticky-liquid/m-p/5954392

my Latitude E6400 ATG also has had a leaking screen for several years now & I am about to sell it on ebay.

So I just opened an account here to say: I will not go near a Dell screen or laptop ever again.

Ditto on my Latitude 10 tablet. Leaked into the power switch and power switch stopped working. Actually leaking all over the place from the one side. Feel like this started after 2 years or so with the switch getting harder and harder to use and then toast. Won't charge now either. Disappointing for a device that we didn't get much use out of - Just about new condition and dead.

Same here. Bubble just started on my Inspiron 15 7579 after 3 years. The purchased 1 year warranty expired on August 2, 2018.

After communications with Dell customer care who were unwilling to admit that leaking LCD panel is the common manufacturing defect, I am going to dispose the Dell laptop with leaking LCD liquid (toxic??) and to buy a good laptop from Apple. Period

While that is of course your choice, note that an AppleCare extended warranty is a good idea.  Apple has had myriad problems with display cable failures - which means expensive LCD replacements.  And if you think Dell parts are costly -- price a Macbook screen!
