mute button doing wrong function
Hi everyone.
I have a Latitude E7240. I am running windows 10 and I have noticed that when I press the mute button on my laptop it does not mute but instead act the same as my volume down key. Any suggestions how to fix this?
Thank you
Jason

Hi JOcean, thank you for your advice. I think I might have a faulty keyboard in that case. When I use my wireless keyboard my mute function works. I have a vague memory that the button on the keyboard used to work when I had Windows 7 on it and been like this since the Windows 8 and 10 upgrades, but it might just be coincidence. I have also installed and factory reset the laptop multiple times so not sure what is happening. I will try to get hold of a replacement keyboard and see if it does the trick. Thank you for the advice

Hi JOcean,
Thank you for your response. I have tried both but neither of those have made a difference..

Try holding down the Fn key and Esc at the same time then release and see if the functions return to normal. Also try holding down the Fn key for 3 seconds then try again.

Try the following. Also try an external keyboard to see if the problem persists. If not then it may be a bad keyboard on the laptop.

Thank you. I had same issue, and Fn key + ESC reset everything back to normal.
